The British Virgin Islands are becoming a little easier to access than in days past. There is continual ferry service from St. Thomas and St. John USVI to the BVI and we have included a comprehenive ferry schedule to assist in planning your BVI vacation. A new airport is currently under construction which will allow larger planes to land. We still can't accommodate any jumbo jets ... but then again, we really don't want to make it that easy to get here either!

Several major airlines and air charter companies service the BVI and ferries run from St. Thomas to Tortola & Virgin Gorda, seven days a week. Car rentals and taxi services are widely available and there is now also a small motor cycle and scooter rental company and even a couple of limousine services! There are three airports in the British Virgin Islands. The main airport is located on Beef Island (EIS) which is located just east of Tortola. The two islands are connected by a small bridge. Two smaller airports are located on Virgin Gorda and Anegada.

Temporary British Virgin Islands Driver's Licence

If renting a car or driving in the BVI, you must purchase a temporary driver's licence. The licence is good for 6 months at a cost of $10.00 per driver and may be obtained through any car rental agency or from the Traffic Licensing Department.

You must produce a valid & original driver's licence at time of issuance. The Licensing Department is located in the R.G. Hodge Plaza, Road Town, Tortola. You may contact the department at (294) 494-3701 ext. (4938)
