Royal British Virgin Islands Yacht Club - 2001 Racing Calendar

The BVI Yacht Club is located at Road Reef Marina in Road Town. The facilities include a club house and restaurant with bar and is open to all visiting yachtsmen. If you will be in the British Virgin Islands aboard a private yacht or if you will be on a bareboat charter, you are welcome join in the fun at the yacht club. Call the Yacht Club for information about the sailing regattas and sailboat races held throughout the year at various BVI locations.

Many BVI Charter yacht charter companies allow their yachts to participate in the sailing races.

West End Yacht Club 2001 Racing Calendar

The West End Yacht Club are a rag tag bunch of fun-loving sailors who like to party as hard and as fast as they like to sail. These events are always great fun for everyone and all are welcome to join in if fortunate enough to be visiting the BVI during any of these sailboat races.

February 9 to 11   Sweethearts of the Caribbean & Classic Yacht Regatta
Held at the Jolly Roger Restaurant & Bar in West End, Tortola, this regatta features Classic boats. The Sweethearts of the Caribbean is a schooner race held on Saturday. All yachts over 25 years (in design) race on Sunday with a "Wannabe" Class of 20 - 25 year old yachts. The spectators really enjoy this start and finish from the dock at the J.R.
 
March 10 to 12   Dark & Stormy Race (East End, Tortola)
Sponsored by Neptune's Treasure of Anegada, this weekend event features a race to Anegada on Saturday, a lay over day and a return race on Monday, a holiday in the BVI.
     
May 25 to 28   Foxy's Wooden Boat Regatta (Jost Van Dyke)
The entire weekend is dedicated to the racing of wooden boats. With crews, single-handed, log boats & dinghies. And what a party it is ... great prizes too!
     
July 7   Firecracker Regatta (Jolly Roger, West End)
A super race day for everyone with various classes participating. A perfect weekend race before boats are hauled for the Hurricane Season. There is also a chili cook-off competition with the winner taking home lots of prizes.
     
October 26 to 27   Halloween Cat Fight (Foxy's Jost Van Dyke)
The "Cat Fight" features catamarans only - from Beach Cats to the big ones. If you don't own a cat just show up for registration on Friday night and sign up as crew. All participants dress for the Awards Ceremony. Lots of fun and another great party.
     
December 1   Gustav Wilmerding Regatta (Jolly Roger, West End)
Gustav Wilmerding was the most famous pirate of the BVI. This race commemorates his ringing of the ding-dong bell every time he made a raid. This same bell signifies the finish. Everyone is invited for both the race and the BBQ that follows.
